This is a plain-language summary of what Pixel Kitty Studio collects and what we do with it. Questions? Email us.
Who we are
Pixel Kitty Studio is a small web studio in Medford, Oregon. We make websites for local businesses. You can reach us at our email.
What we collect
- Emails you send us. Your message, your email address and anything you include, like your phone number or business name.
- Change requests. If you ask for a change on a preview, we get your note, your name and email if you give them, and a screenshot or photo if you add one.
- Free preview requests. When you ask for a free preview, we get the business you picked, your email address, and whether you ticked the box for tips and offers. The page runs a check from Cloudflare (Turnstile) that tells people from bots. To stop abuse we count requests from each internet address, but we keep only a scrambled code for it, never the address itself, and only for 48 hours. To keep it to one free preview per business and per email, we also keep scrambled codes of the business and your email (never the email itself) for a year.
- Your edit link. Owners on the care plan get a private link for sending changes: a note and up to three photos at a time. We keep only a scrambled copy of the link’s secret code, next to which site it belongs to.
- Preview visits. Each preview we make loads a tiny image from this site, so we know when it has been opened. We note the time, the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer) and the rough location our host gives us (country and city). We don’t keep your IP address or put a cookie on your device, and we skip visits from bots.
- One cookie, for us. A cookie called
kd_meis set only in our own browser, when we open previews from our own tools, so our own visits aren’t counted. Visitors don’t get it. - Buying. Checkout runs on Stripe, and Stripe handles your card. We never see your card number. Stripe tells us your name, your email, what you bought and which preview it was for.
- The preview you’re buying. While you check out, your browser remembers which preview you’re buying for that visit only, so the thank-you can offer the right care plan. It stays in your browser.
- Making previews. We build previews from public information about a business: its name, address, hours, photos and reviews from its Google listing and its current website.
We use what we collect to make and run your website, answer you and keep our records. We don’t sell it, and we don’t run ads or ad trackers.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare hosts this site and our previews, holds change requests, free-preview requests and visit counts until we pick them up, and runs the Turnstile check on the free-preview pages.
- Stripe handles payments.
- Google carries our email, serves the fonts on this site (so it sees your browser’s address when a page loads), and looks businesses up (Google Places) when you search for yours.
- Resend sends the emails about your free preview.
- Anthropic makes the AI tools we use to help design previews and make changes, so the details of a change request, or the public details of the business you picked for a free preview, may pass through them. Your email address doesn’t.
How long we keep it
- A free-preview request you don’t confirm is deleted after 24 hours. A confirmed one waits on our host for up to 14 days until we pick it up. If you don’t buy the site, we delete your email address after 90 days.
- Change requests and edit-link messages wait on our host for up to 60 days, and are removed from there once we’ve picked them up. After that we keep them with your site’s records while we work on it.
- Visit counts are deleted automatically after a year.
- If a preview isn’t for you, we take it down.
- Emails and purchase records stay as long as we look after your site, and as long as the law asks us to keep business records.
Removing your information
Email us at our email and tell us what you’d like: a copy of what we have, a correction, or for us to delete it. We reply within one business day. We may need to keep purchase records for taxes; we’ll tell you if so.
Changes to this page
If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
